These are sketches, not the real thing, and every name and number
on them is made up. But the shape is right — and the shape is the part most
software gets wrong.
1 · The home page
The first thing anybody sees when they sign in. Not a menu — a
list of what is going wrong right now, in the order it is costing you money.
Everything down the left is one system: the counter, the bays, the parts, the
books and the people.

Made-up group, made-up numbers. This is the real layout. One shop or a hundred and eighteen — the same screen, scoped to whatever that person is responsible for.
2 · The day, in hours
A car count tells you nothing. Two cars can be a slow morning or
three days of work. So the top of the screen answers the only question that
matters: what does today already owe, and what is genuinely left.

3 · A list per person
Work belongs to a job, not to a car. That one decision is what
lets you hand half of a long job to somebody else, drop an urgent one in
front of it, and still have the hours add up at the end of the day.

4 · What the client sees on their phone
No prices. No approve button. This is not a transaction — it is
the start of a conversation, and the conversation happens with a person.
What the report does is make sure they can see what you saw before you have it.

Questions, or ready to move forward?
Call or text us and your service advisor will walk you
through everything on this report.
☎ Call (555) 010-4400
This report is for your records.
Why there is no price on it
A number with no person attached turns a conversation into a quote to
shop around. The report's job is to show them what you saw. The price
comes from the advisor, on the phone, with the reasons attached.
And no approve button
An approve button decides for the client before anybody has explained
anything — and it hides the one thing that actually matters, which is
what they were worried about when they dropped the car off.
Their own words come first, under Your Concerns & Our Findings.
Then what was found, grouped by how urgent it is.
Photos and video from the bay, with a caption on each.
It ends with a phone number and the name of the person who will explain it.
Nothing reaches them until somebody in the shop presses send.
Made-up shop, vehicle and findings. The layout is the real one.
5 · The tablet in the bay
Its own app, built for a tablet in a bay — big targets, one topic
on the screen at a time, and it keeps working when the wifi drops. The tech
taps a condition, and the colour of the button is the answer.

Sample topic. Real layout, real colours — this is the sheet the tech actually works through.
And the least glamorous part, which is the
one that saves the most arguments: the tech ticks off the parts he actually
used, so nobody finds out at invoicing.

Sample parts. A technician never writes to the office system directly — it goes over as a request.
6 · The books, and the work behind them
Real double-entry accounting inside the same system. Which means
a number on the P&L is not the end of the trail — it opens.

7 · Every call, against two questions
Nobody can tell you at the end of a week whether the cars you
were called about actually came in, or whether you sold the job or just the
part that broke. Every call gets read against exactly those two things.

Bonus · Somebody is waiting on us
A missed call, an unanswered text and a callback promised on the
phone are the same fact from the client's side. So they are one list, and a
promise stays on it until a person says what happened.
